Data Templates are Excel-like grids that allow users to capture clean, structured data about experiments in Albert. Data Templates harmonize property data across the entire organization, enabling reporting, visualization, artificial intelligence (AI), and more.
Searching and Filtering Data Templates
Opening up the Data Templates module will open a list of all Data Templates. From there, you can easily search, filter on, and sort by a variety of criteria.
For more information on searching and filtering Data Templates, navigate to this help article.
Creating and Editing Data Templates
Note: Only certain individuals will have permission to create new Parameter Groups. Please reach out to your organization's admins for questions on your organization's permission structure.
Before creating a new Data Template it is strongly recommended to search through existing Data Templates in Albert to ensure the one you're looking for does not already exist.
To create a new Data Template, click on "Create" in the Albert navigation panel at the top of the screen and select "Data Template".
The Create New Data Template modal will open. Fill out a name for the Data Template and select the Organization name (ASTM, ISO, etc.). In the fields below, you will be able to input the ID corresponding to the standard number, designate an owner(s), and fill out a description for the Data Template.
Note: For ASTMs, inputting the appropriate ASTM ID will associate and link the Data Template with the corresponding standard in ASTM Compass directly from Albert. For more information on Albert's ASTM integration, visit this help article.
Once you fill out the required information and click the "Create" button in the bottom righthand corner, Albert will open the new Data Template. From there, the Edit Data Template modal will open.
You can select "Add New Result" to add new columns to your Data Templates in order to capture desired results.
After you've finished configuring your Data Template, click "Save" and the Data Template will be saved.
Adding Calculations to Data Templates
Albert allows you to include formulas in Data Templates. To add a calculation, click on the cell where you'd like to add the calculation in the "Example Data Row" row.
Define your calculation similarly to how you might in Excel. For example, select one cell and then input an arithmetic symbol (+, -, *, /, or ^) and select a second cell. As a result, Albert would perform the input calculation using the selected cells.
You can test your calculation by adding random data in the example data row for each column.
-
- The decimal values should be added with a dot "."
- #REF is shown if the calculation is not correctly referenced to the cell.
- #VALUE! appears if Albert cannot recognize the input (e.g. dividing by zero)
Note: Only specific user profiles are able to create and edit Data Templates, in addition to the Data Template's owners. If you do not have access to create a Data Template but would like one to be created, or if you believe you should have access to create and edit Data Templates, please reach out to your organization's Albert admin(s). If you would like to suggest an edit to an existing Data Template, please reach out to the Data Template owner with the change request.
Sharing Data Templates
Albert allows you to share Data Templates with colleagues. Each Data Template has a unique URL. To share a Data Template, copy the unique URL and share it with colleagues.
Deleting Data Templates
You may come across duplicate Data Templates that should be merged into a single Data Template. If you encounter this, please reach out to your organization's Albert admin(s) so they can merge the data following appropriate change control processes.
