System Limits

Edited

Key limits and performance thresholds across Worksheets, Notebooks, Breakthrough, Tasks, and batch imports. Use this guide when planning projects, migrating data, or troubleshooting size and performance issues.

Overview

Albert sets practical caps to protect stability and ensure predictable performance. Where a hard limit does not exist, follow the guidance below for smooth operation.

Product and Engineering periodically review these thresholds. If you run into a limit that blocks a critical workflow, contact support@albertinvent.com.

Worksheet limits

Maximum worksheets per project

Each project can contain up to 100 worksheets. Exceeding this cap triggers an error.

For migrations with many formulations, organize into multiple projects to stay within this cap.

Notebook limits

Rendering and file size

No strict file-size limit is enforced, but very large or image-heavy notebooks can slow down rendering.

  • Reduce the number of embedded full-resolution images where possible.

  • Prefer linked assets or compressed images for long notebooks.

  • Split large notebooks into logical sections if scrolling becomes sluggish.

Breakthrough formulation limits

Ingredient combination cap

The design space per formula is capped at must-include ingredients + 10 optional ingredients.

Search cutoff

Exploration stops after approximately 1,000 attempted combinations if no feasible formulation is found.

Keep must-includes minimal and tighten ranges to avoid infeasible spaces.

Task Limits - Batch & Property

Inventory items per task

Batch tasks and property tasks can each contain up to 50 inventory items per task: (Formulas, Raw Materials, etc.)

If you select more than 50 items, Albert shows the following message: "You can only select up to 50 inventory items for a single task. Please reduce your selection."

  • For testing on more than 50 inventory items, split into multiple tasks. Consider task duplication to reduce manual data-entry.

  • This limit of 50 items applies to both Batch & Property tasks.

Best Practices: For high-impact changes, start with a small test batch first, then roll out in additional batches of up to 50 items.

Import and batch processing limits

CSV and UI imports

UI operations are chunked to maintain responsiveness.

  • UI imports: batches of up to 200 records.

  • Backend processing: batches of up to 1,000 records per write job.

For very large imports, stage multiple files and monitor progress between batches.
